Death of Henry Poorbaugh
Henry Poorbaugh died last Saturday at his home about one mile north of Colfax. He breathed his last without the usual accompaniment of sickness, and many were shocked by the sudden departure. They join with relatives in mourning for one whose noble qualities, tender sympathies, and general lovableness, rendered him not only a favorite at home but among his wide circle of friends.

Mr. Henry Poorbaugh, of north of Colfax, died last Saturday. His death was sudden, as he had not been sick. Mr. Poorbaugh was a wealthy man and highly esteemed in the community. He is one of Jasper County’s old settlers.

Henry Poorbaugh, a pioneer Iowan, and for over 40 years past, occupant of the farm in Poweshiek township two and a half miles northeast of town, died at the old farmhouse last Sunday, after an illness of only a few hours, and was buried Wednesday after a funeral from the residence, conducted by Rev. King of this place, assisted by Rev. Quickenden.
Mr. Poorbaugh was a native of Pennsylvania, and was upwards of 73 years old. A wife and six of the seven children born to them survive him. Of the surviving children there is but one son. Mr. Poorbaugh was a strictly honest man, a kind husband and father and a good citizen.
