Final Rites For Mrs. Vesta J. Pease
Final rites for Mrs. Vesta Jeffries Pease, 76, were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Christian Church. One of her former pastors, Rev. A. A. Burr, now of Des Moines and the present pastor, Rev. Walter Goughnour of the Colfax Christian Church paid tribute to the many good deeds of this righteous woman throughout her earthly life. Her husband, Frank G. Pease, to whom she was married Nov. 16, 1900, preceded her in death October 27, 1949.
The large audience and array of flowers were also tributes to the friends she acquired throughout the years. Instead of flowers, the 4-H Girls Clubs of the County, with whom she played an active role prior to her forced retirement because of the illness of her husband and later herself, paid tribute with a contribution to the Girls Camp fund as a living remembrance.
Mrs. Earl Plummer as soloist and Jean Binkerd as organist provided appropriate music.
The pall bearers were Harrison Burton, Merle Montgomery, Claire Pease, Reed Pease, John Cross and Harry Cross. Interment was in the McKeever cemetery beside her husband.
