Mrs. John Pearson passed away at her home in Williamson, Iowa, Saturday, following an illness extending a little more than a week. Her sudden passing was a shock to her many friends in Colfax, where she had spent most of her life, leaving here about three years ago for Williamson, where Mr. Pearson was superintendent of a coal mine.
Jessie Pflaum Pearson was born at Odessa, Kansas, June 27th, 1879, and departed this life from her home at Williamson, Iowa, January 7, 1933, after a very short illness of just a little over a week.
When a girl of three years, she came from Kansas to Colfax, in a covered wagon with her parents, and has since made her home here, except for the last three years.
She was united in marriage to John Pearson, June 28th, 1900, and Mr. and Mrs. Pearson made their home in Colfax until moving to Williamson, where Mr. Pearson has a position with the Indiana Consolidated Coal Co.
To this union was born three children, one daughter, Mrs. George Orlich of Colfax, and two sons, twins, Harold and Howard, who live in Chicago, Ill.
Mrs. Pearson is survived and leaves to mourn her going, besides her husband and children, one sister, Mrs. Mary Ball of Colfax, two brothers, Oliver and Emory Pflaum of Colfax, also one granddaughter, Virginia Pearson, and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was a member of the Methodist Church, the Pythian Sister fraternal order and of the Pocahontas lodge. These latter organizations attended the service in a body and gave their service at the grave side.
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. from the Methodist church, with Rev. L. C. McDonald, the pastor, officiating. Interment was made at McKeever’s cemetery.
Music for the service was furnished by Mrs. E. B. Shissler, Mrs. Earl Plummer, John A. Davis, and B. F. Van Dyke, with Mrs. Cleo Wall at the organ.
The pall bearers were from Williamson.
