Mrs. Chas. Newhouse, who was taken to the insane asylum at Mount Pleasant, last week, died there on the evening of August 29th. Her remains were brought to Colfax on Saturday evening and taken to the residence of her brother. Funeral services were held at Liberty school house Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Griffith, of Colfax, who delivered an able and impressive sermon to a large concourse of friends and neighbors, who followed the remains to their last resting place in Poweshiek cemetery.
Mrs. Viola Newhouse was born at Greencastle, Sept. 17, 1860. Married Chas. Newhouse in 1878, and died Aug. 29, 1889, leaving a husband and a little son, besides many other relatives, who have the sincere sympathy of community in their sad bereavement.
