Brought Back for Burial
The remains of Mrs. J. H. DaVault who passed away at her home at Hennessey, Oklahoma, were brough to Monroe Friday evening January 1st. The funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m., at the M. E. church, Rev. Carl Brown, conducting the services.
Permelia Philena Hathaway was born in Union County, Ohio, January 4, 1849, and passed away at her home in Hennessey, Oklahoma, Dec. 30, 1914. She came with her parents to Monroe in 1865 and lived her 16 years. She was united in marriage to John H. DaVault in 1868 and to this union were born six children, one dying in infancy. The oldest, Estus Belotus, passed away Oct. 25, 1908, Wm. A. resides at Hennessey, Okla., Mrs. Alice Stone, Mrs. Florence Stuart, and George Lester live in Montana. All were at the bedside of their mother a short time before she died. Besides her four children she leaves her husband, one sister, Mrs. G. W. Shaw, of Monroe, and her granddaughter, Miss Lois DaVault, of Hennessey, Okla.; to mourn their loss. She was a member of the Christian church at Hennessey and always attended as long as her health would permit. Just before she passed away she called all her family that were with her to her bedside and told them she was going to leave them and for them not to grieve after her, that she was ready and prepared to go and was perfectly happy. She requested to brought to Monroe, her old home, and laid to rest in the Monroe Cemetery where her parents are buried and her request was granted as all that loving hands could do was done.
Those from a distance attending the funeral, besides her husband and son who accompanied the remains here, were her daughter, and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Stoner, of Hobson, Montana, her nephew, W. M. Shaw and family, of Newton, and Mr. Sam Buckley, of Coon Rapids.
