Joseph McKeever Dies at Hospital; Services Tuesday
Joseph F. McKeever, 83, of 228 Country Club Acres, a longtime resident of Jasper County, died at 6:20 a.m. today at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Toland Funeral Home.
The Rev. Thomas Burke, pastor of the Immanuel Baptist Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in McKeever Cemetery north of Colfax.
Mr. McKeever is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Layde) Kahler of Cambridge, Iowa, Mrs. John (Carrie) Hughes of Newton and Mrs. Phillip (Ida Bell) Reichart of Indianola; three sons, Hamilton of Des Moines, Lawrence of Mitchellville and Fred of Pinole, Calif.; 30 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
He also is survived by four brothers, Frank, Henry, Harl and William, all of Des Moines, and a sister, Mrs. Jennie Southern of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, three sisters and a brother.
The son of Benjamin and Susan Maulk McKeever, he was born in Jasper County.
He was married to Carrie Borts in 1907 in Des Moines.
Mr. McKeever was a member of the United Brethren Church.
He was a farmer and cabinet maker.
