Colfax – Lyle E. Mathews, 70, a resident of Colfax for 10 years, died Thursday, Aug. 21, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. Burial will be in the McKeever Cemetery, north of Colfax.
Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Saturday.
Survivors are his wife, Mariam; four sons, Lyle Jr. of Malvern, Ark., Larry of Boone, Ray of Maxwell and Leland of Colfax; two daughters, Marlene Camp of Boone and Kathy Mathews of Colfax; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are his mother, Edith Nystrom of Jewell; a sister, Melba Tolstrup of Jewell; and two brothers, Donald of Madrid and Gaylor of Cedar Falls.
He was preceded in death by his father and an infant grandson.
Mr. Mathews, a World War II veteran, had been a mechanic and millwright.
The son of John and Edith Dankins Mathews, he was born June 1, 1916 in Woolstock.
He was married to Mariam Coats May 26, 1950 in Gordonsville, Minn.
He also had resided in Webster City.
