Mrs. David Tripp, wife of the mayor of Colfax, died Tuesday morning, February 26, at one o’clock, and funeral services were held today at the Christian church in Colfax with burial at Ashton cemetery.
Mrs. Tripp had been seriously ill for only one week, although she had been in frail health for a long time.
Mrs. Tripp was born in Clear Creek township, May 27, 1858, and had passed the greater part of her life in Jasper county. She was accounted on of the sterling women of the county, well known in Newton where she spent several years as mistress of the Jasper county jail, during her husband’s tenure of office as deputy sheriff. She is survived by her husband and two sons, Charles of Colfax and Marion, of Spokane. Marion Tripp of Newton is a nephew.
