In 1862 she was united in marriage with Noah Mills, who died in August 1876, leaving their six little sons for whom she struggled hard and reared. George died about ten years ago. Eli, of this vicinity, Enoch, Jesse, and Ross, of Kellogg, with several grandchildren and one great-grandchild survive and were present at the funeral.
They located in this part of Jasper county about 1870. They were members of the Brethren Church but soon united with the Church of Christ of which she was a faithful member until death. In 1892, she married Thos. Densmore who died in 1902 in this vicinity. In 1904 she married Mr. Moore of Manchester, and they went to San Diego to make their home. After his death she made an extended visit with Iowa friends and relatives and returned to California in 1912, when she married Mr. Haynes, who died in June 1917. She was patient in trials, industrious and kind to all.
The body was shipped to Kellogg, and funeral services conducted at Ashton Chapel, January 16, 1918, by Rev. Adams, of Mingo, who spoke on Christian Preparation, 2 Sam. 12-23, and read “Crossing the Bar.” A chorus sang and beautiful flowers of West and of Iowa covered the casket. Interment was in the Ashton cemetery beside her loved ones. The pall bearers were Ira Bettner, Wm. Couch, George Hanson, Joe Leonard, Lincoln Tiffany and Clayton Lint. Hers was a long and useful life. Four husbands were Civil War veterans.
