Fleming, Eliza Jane Henry – 1851-1934

Eliza Jane Henry, daughter of John and Sarah Henry, was born in Marion county, Iowa, Nov. 21, 1851, and died at her home in Vandalia, Iowa, Sept. 17, 1934, aged 82 years, 9 months and 27 days.
Deceased’s first husband and four children preceded her in death.
July 11, 1883, she was united in marriage to Jonathan Fleming, and to this union four children were born, all of whom are still living. The husband died July 1, 1909, and Mrs. Fleming continued to live in her home at Vandalia, a period of 43 years in the same house.
Deceased is survived by her two sons and two daughters – Orville, of Prairie City, and Roland, of Des Moines; Mrs. Cora Miller, of Prairie City, and Mrs. Edna Ingles, of near Ivy; 24 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Also one brother, Frank Henry, of Swan, and four sisters – Mrs. Mary Freel, of Redlands, Calif.; Mrs. Ella Kise, of Swan; Mrs. Ollie Cook, of Kansas City, Mo.; and Mrs. Elizabeth Sanders, of Muskogee, Okla.
Mrs. Fleming was a member of the Christian church for many years.

Mrs. Eliza Fleming of Vandalia died at her home Monday, September 17th. She is the mother of Mrs. Ira Ingle, Doc Fleming and Mrs. L. Miller, who has lived in this community. Her sister, Mrs. Eli Freel, of Redlands, California, has been with her considerable during her illness.
