James Allen McCoy, son of Mr. and Mrs. George McCoy, was born Sept. 28, 1868, at Dallas, Ia., and died May 3, 1928, at his home, west of Pleasantville. He was 69 years, 7 months and 5 days old.
Deceased was united in marriage to Sadie Bell Powers in 1902 and to their union three children were born, one daughter having preceded him in death. The living children are May Robinson of Pleasantville and Clifford, at home.
Mr. McCoy was a good and kind husband and father, a good neighbor and had the friendship and respect of all who knew him. He united with the M.E. church at Pleasant Hill when a young man and was a firm believer in the golden rule, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” He was also member of the Swan I.O.O.F. lodge, and lived up to the teachings of the order.
Funeral services were held at the home Saturday, conducted by Rev. F. M. Roberts of Percy. Burial services were in charge of the Swan I.O.O.F. and interment was in Vandalia cemetery, near Runnells.
