Jack Woody Dies In Fire
A. J. (Jack) Woody, a life-long resident of this community died Tuesday morning, as the result of a fire which destroyed his home.
Mr. Woody, had evidently been singeing a chicken when flames caught his clothing. A neighbor, Jesse Acklin, attracted to the fire by smoke from the burning building, attempted to help Mr. Woody, but could do very little. Mr. Acklin suffered some burns on his hands as a result of his efforts.
The house was badly charred by the blaze which was extinguished by the Monroe Fire Department.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Crumpacker funeral Home, with Rev. J. Lynn Pace officiating. Burial was in the Gifford cemetery.
