Charles West, 79 Years Old, Dies
Charles West, 79 years old, who has been an inmate in the Jasper county home for some time, died yesterday afternoon after a lingering illness.
Mr. West was for many years a harness-maker in Ira and is known throughout the county. He came here in an early day and followed the harness making trade until he grew too old to work. His is survived by one brother, Gibson West, in Marshalltown, and one niece in Colfax. Very little is known about other relatives.

Former Ira Man Dies
Charles West died Monday afternoon at the county home after a lingering illness. He was seventy-nine years old. For many years deceased was a resident of Ira where he was engaged in the harness maker’s business. He came to Jasper county in its pioneer days and will be remembered by some of the older residents of the county. He is survived by a brother Gibson West, who resides in Marshalltown and a niece living in Colfax.
The remains were taken to the Murdock, Toedt and Townsend undertaking parlors to await word from the relatives or their arrival to claim the body.
