A. G. McAllister Dies in Hospital; Services Pending
Allan George (Chick) McAllister, 74, of Newton Hotel, a lifelong resident of Newton, died this morning in Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Morgan-Loehr Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements which have not been completed pending the arrival of his daughter-in-law.
The Rev. William Sexton, minister of First Presbyterian Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
Mr. McAllister will lie in state after noon Wednesday.
Survivors are a son, Allan M. of Tucson, Ariz.; a grandchild, and a sister, Mrs. Leland Anderson of Iowa City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife in 1947, two brothers and two sisters.
Mr. McAllister was a member of First Presbyterian Church, a lifetime member of the BPO Elks and the American Legion. He served in France during World War I.
He was retired from the Maytag Company where he was employed as an inspector.
The son of David and Agnes Brown McAllister, he was born June 4, 1893 in Newton and was educated in Newton schools.
He was married to Carrie Marshall in 1915 in Newton.
