Glenn Stock, Longtime Resident Dies Wednesday
Glenn Stock, 73, longtime resident of this city, died Wednesday at Excelsior Springs, Mo., where he had gone for treatment, March 18th. He had been in failing health for several years with a heart condition, but death came suddenly in his sleep.
The son of Joseph and Emma Berry Stock, he was born May 7, 1888 at Clyde, Iowa. He moved to Colfax with his parents at the age of three and received his education in the schools of this city. He had resided several years in Newton, but spent most of his life in this city.
He was married to Frances Plamonden, August 17, 1912, at Kansas City, Mo. Mrs. Stock preceded him in death, September 29, 1960.
“Stocky” as he was affectionately called, served as Deputy Sheriff of Jasper County. Also served as Street Commissioner of Newton for a time. He was in business at various times in Colfax and was employed by the County for 14 years, until his retirement three years ago because of ill health.
Surviving him are a daughter, Mrs. C. H. (Hazel) Cozad of Newton, a foster daughter, Mrs. John (Rozelin) Bale, Jr., a half-sister, Gladys Clement of Des Moines, two grandchildren, Mrs. Robert Pennell of Pensacola, Fla., and Jack Cozad of Sioux Falls, So. Dakota. Also three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements for the funeral services had not been made at the time of this writing.
