Jonah was the oldest son of Benjamin Borts and Barbara Hines. According to his Iowa death certificate he was buried in the "Mingo Cemetery" on 18 March 1924. Being that his mother and two of his sisters are buried in Ashton it is believed that Jonas is also buried here. However, there is no tombstone and the early cemetery records have been lost that would confirm his burial. Cemetery tombstone inventories during actual walk through in 1976, 1994 and 2018 did not find a marker for him. Research continues to verify his burial location.
