Ed Powleske Rites Thursday; Dies at Mingo Home Sunday
Mingo – Funeral services for Ed Powleske, 90, of Mingo, a longtime Mingo area farmer, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Mingo United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Charles Luer, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Ashton Cemetery, north of Mingo.
Boyd-Nickell Funeral Home in Baxter is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions to a fund in Mr. Powleske’s name will be accepted. Memorials may be left at the funeral home.
He died Sunday afternoon at his home in Mingo.
Survivors are a son, Charles of New York, N.Y.; a daughter, Mrs. Vernon (Cleo) Clausing of Seattle, Wash.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife in 1970, 12 brothers and a sister.
Mr. Powleske was a member of the United Methodist church at Mingo, Farm Bureau and Jasper County Tax Board.
The son of Thomas and Mary Powleske, he was born Jan. 10, 1890 in Ord, Neb. He came to Iowa at the age of seven and was raised by the Rany Johnson family.
He was married to Pearl Trusler Mar. 11, 1914 in Newton.
