This is copied from an obituary that appeared in the Newton, IA newspaper (my apologies - I don't have the newspaper name or exact date that it appeared):

OBITUARY - Death has again entered the home of Mrs. G. Bridges and taken from her another son. There have been four deaths in her house inside of six months.
DIED - At home, Nov. 19, 1890, Mr. Absolom G. Bridges. He was born June 18, 1866 and was 24 years, 5 mos., and one day old; he has been a sufferer for six years with consumption.--
Last January he began to gradually fail and so continued until death came. So that our family circle is once more broken, the chair is vacant, the house is so lonely without him. He was a good christian boy, loved his mother and was so good to her. She has two small boys to comfort her, but he was the one she looked to since his father died. He talked about that beautiful home far beyond the river, and bore his sickness with christian patience. Said he had nothing to think or trouble him only mother, who was so kind and good to him. He said "mother I am not afraid to die, but don't mourn for me for I will be at rest, and I have suffered so long that I will soon be done with the battle of life and my sufferings ended forever." Ab. resided on the old home place until Sept. 1883, then removed to Newton, Iowa, with his parents; there remained until Dec. 1885, when his father took him to Kansas for the purpose of improving his health; returned to his mother in Newton, in March, 1886, went back and remained for a short time; in 1887, he went back to Kansas and stayed with his sister one year and two months, and then he returned back to the old homestead and remained until his death.
The services were held at the old home Nov. 20, 1890, conducted by Rev. J. W. Lewis, of the M. E. Church, of Newton, and the remains were laid in the family cemetery wait the coming resurrection.
A precious one from us is gone,
A voice we loved is stilled,
A place is vacant in our home
Can never more be filled.
God in his wisdom has re-called
the boon his love had given,
And though the body moulders here,
The spirit is in Heaven.
We desire to return our most sincere and heartfelt thanks to the friends and neighbors during the sickness of our son and brother. MRS. G. BRIDGES, AND CHILDREN.
