Miles William “Mick” Mc Coneghey, age 87 of Monroe, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Urbandale Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at 10:30 am at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Burial will take place at Silent City Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. Memorials may be directed to the Monroe United Methodist Church and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The son of Kenneth Keith and Faye (Allen) Mc Coneghey, Mick was born on January 30, 1935 in Monroe. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1953. Mick served in the United States Army from 1957 until 1959. On June 3, 1961, he was united in marriage to Bette J. Nimmo at Tools Point Chapel in Monroe. Mick farmed in his younger years. Mick worked as a Master Plumber, working in this field for many years. He worked as a custodian at the PCM Middle School for several years. He also helped at congregate meals in Monroe for several years and was a member, then voted president, of the Forever Young Club. He also was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church. Mick enjoyed fishing, playing card games, antique tractors and most of all time spent with his family.

Those left to honor his memory include his two children, Liz Churchill and Dan Mc Coneghey; four grandchildren, Andy (Becca) Purvis, Beau Purvis, Cody Purvis, and Paul Mc Coneghey; and eight great grandchildren, Mollie, Miles, Mason, Marcus, Monroe, Alyx, Jon, and Charly. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, Bette, in 2015 and three sisters, Charlotte Mc Coneghey, Vickie Herwehe and Eileen Pille.
