Mingo – An 18-year-old Mingo youth was among the seven Iowans killed in traffic accidents during the weekend.
James Dean Clement died Sunday at the Newton Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines after being injured in a motorcycle accident in Ankeny Saturday evening.
Authorities indicated that Clement apparently lost control of the motorcycle a quarter mile east of Interstate-35.
He was thrown 150 feet in the accident, landing on his head.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Wallace Funeral Home in Newton.
The Rev. Joseph Denning, pastor of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Ashton Cemetery west of Baxter.
Friends may call at the Wallace Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Clement of Mingo; four brothers, Greg, Russ, Mike and Les, all of Mingo; a sister, Tina, of Mingo; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Grace Bresnahan; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Bernice Clement, both of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Leslie Bresnahan and Elmer Clement.
Mr. Clement was a butcher at the Mingo Locker.
The son of Gerald D. and Cleone L. Bresnahan Clement, he was born Newton 29, 1960 at Newton and attended Mingo schools.
