Bert Ferris Dies Today Following Stroke
Colfax (Special to The Daily News) – Burton Ferris, 72, who suffered a stroke Wednesday, April 28, died at 10 o’clock this morning in Newton at Skiff Memorial hospital where he was admitted as a patient last Saturday.
Mr. Ferris, a retired coal miner, is survived by his wife, the former Ella Shelenbarger; two daughters, Mrs. Ray Lowery and Mrs. Thomas Davidson, and several grandchildren, all of Colfax; and two cousins, Mrs. O. B. Owens and Mrs. Arville Lee, also of Colfax.
The body was taken to the Hartnett Funeral home to lie in state. Funeral arrangements had not been completed late this afternoon.

Bert Ferris Rites Monday In Colfax
Colfax (Special to The Daily News) – Funeral services for Bert Ferris, 72, who died Friday at Skiff Memorial hospital in Newton, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday from the Hartnett Funeral home in Colfax with the Rev. A. A. Burr officiating. Interment will be in McKeever cemetery.
A grandson, Arnold Davidson, who is serving with the armed forces, is returning to attend the services.
