Harry Deskin, 76, Longtime Colfax Resident, Dies
Colfax – Harry Edward Deskin, Sr., 76, died at a hospital at Des Moines Tuesday night following several years of illness.
He was born Aug. 3, 1889, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Alvin Deskin at Fishville, Ia. He was a retired coal miner and had worked for eleven years at the Maytag Company at Newton.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel of Colfax; four sons, Norman Deskin, Fayetteville, Ark.; Harry jr., New York City; Merle Deskin, Marengo and Donald Deskin of Des Moines; one daughter, Mrs. Marian Alberta Atcheson, Des Moines and 15 grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Ellen Meadows, Saginaw, Mich., and two brothers, Roy Deskin, Elk Rapids, Mich., and Lou Deskin, Albia.
Funeral services have been set for 2 p.m. Friday at the Walters Funeral Home in Colfax.
The Rev. Dale Nicholson, minister of the Colfax Methodist Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in McKeever Cemetery at Colfax.
Mr. Deskin resided in Colfax since 1911.
