Colfax – Lorena “Shorty” Deakins, 72, of Colfax, died Monday, Feb. 5, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Howard Street Christian church in Colfax with Pastor Paul Elliott and David Edwards officiating. Burial will be at McKeever Cemetery in Colfax. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax is handling arrangements.
Friends may call today at the funeral home where family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m.
The daughter of Fred Robert and Ruth Kloppenberg Garrison, she was born Oct. 11, 1928, in Colfax. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1947 and was a lifelong resident of Colfax. She was an apartment manager and a member of Howard Street Christian church.
Survivors include two sons, Don of Kellogg and Dennis; a daughter, Denise Braaksma of Des Moines; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
