Mingo – Lavern “Bud” Carter, 72, of Mingo died Saturday morning, Jan. 25, at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.
The Rev. Kevin Leveck, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Mingo, will conduct services. Burial will be in the McKeever Cemetery, north of Colfax.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Memorial contributions to the Mingo United Methodist Church will be accepted.
Survivors are his wife, Clara; a daughter, Nancy Chivers of Des Moines; two grandchildren; and a sister, Opal Shropshire of Moline, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and two sisters.
Mr. Carter was a retired logger.
The son of Nick and Rose McNamara Carter, he was born Oct. 4, 1913 in Mystic and attended Rock Island, Ill., schools.
He was married to Clara Kern June 2, 1946 in Rock Island.
