SULLY - Dora Jeanette Jansen Van Wyk, 91, a resident of the Long Term Care Unit of Pella Regional Health Center, died there Friday, April 19.

Her funeral service was held today, April 22, at Sully Christian Reformed Church in Sully, the Rev. William D. Zeilstra officiating. Burial: Sully Cemetery. Memorials: Sully Christian Grade School or Pella Christian Schools.

Dora Jeanette Jansen was born June 21, 1910, near Kellogg in Jasper County to Dirk (Dick) and Gysbertha (Bruxvoort) Jansen. She attended Richland No. 3 country grade school near Kellogg and graduated eighth grade. She lived on the family farm.

On Jan. 12, 1934, she married Raymond Reir Van Wyk in Sully. They began farming near Colfax, then farmed in the Sully and Killduff vicinity. In 1969 they retired and moved into Sully. Ray died Jan. 29, 1986. In 1992 Dora moved to Hilltop Manor North in Pella, and to Long Term Care at Pella Regional Health Center in October 2000. She was a member of Sully Christian Reformed Church, and at the time of her death was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church in Pella, where she belonged to Priscilla Ladies Aid. She enjoyed gardening and raising flowers, and making quilts and baby blankets for each grandchild.

She is survived by four children and spouses: Sheryll and James Steenhoek of Pella, Shirley and Melvin Dunsbergen of Lynnville, Berneda Steenhoek of Pella and Larry Van Wyk of Kellogg; 19 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Alberta Kryn Struik of Sully; and a sister-in-law, Pauline Jansen of Pella.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons: Howard in infancy and Darrell in 1998; two daughters-in-law: Mary Van Wyk and Joyce Van Wyk; a son-in-law, Marvin A. Steenhoek; a great-grandson, Chad Lee Van Kooten; her parents; and seven brothers and sisters: Evert Jansen, Elizabeth De Koning, Jennie Fopma, Hattie Fopma, Gertie Sjaardema, William D. Jansen and Henry D. Jansen.
