SULLY - Clara Van Wyk, 90, of Pella and formerly of Sully, died Sunday, Aug. 5, at Pella Regional Health Center.

Her funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at First Reformed Church in Sully. Burial: Sully Cemetery near Sully. Visiting hours begin 2:30 p.m. today at Sully Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Sully, with family present 6-8 p.m. today. Memorials: Hospice of Pella or Pella Regional Health Center Long Term Care Unit.

Clara Van Wyk was born May 2, 1911, in Richland Township, Mahaska County, to Garret and Maggie Van Genderen Ver Steegt.

She married Henry G. Van Wyk in Knoxville on Oct. 8, 1930. She lived nine years in Pella and for 27 years in Sully, and 30 years on a farm southwest of Lynnville.

She was a homemaker, and a member of First Reformed Church in Sully. She enjoyed gardening, playing the organ, and playing games with her grandchildren.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: Gilbert and Marlene Van Wyk of Lynnville, Orville and Vi Van Wyk of Newton, and Gary and Alberdina Van Wyk of Sully; two daughters and a son-in-law: Mildred Bogaards of Pella and Margaret Ann and Newton Coop of West Liberty, Ky.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Zuidema of Sully.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on June 9, 1984; three grandchildren: Daryl Bogaards, Carla Bogaards and Debra Coop; six brother: Clarence, Floyd, Earl, Harold, Gerald and Melvin Ver Steegt; and three sisters: Pauline Van Wyk, Mable Ver Steegt and Gladys Ver Steegt.
