SULLY - Jeanette Roorda, 94, of Newton and formerly of Sully, died Friday, March 9, at Careage Care Center in Newton.

Her funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of God in Lynnville, the Rev. Michael Chase officiating. Burial: Sully Cemetery. Memorials: Church of God Mission Fund. Visiting hours continue today at Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home, with family present 6:30-8 p.m. today.

Jeanette Terlouw was born March 12, 1906, near Killduff, to Gerrit and Jennie Elscott Terlouw. She attended Killduff country schools.

On March 4, 1926, she married Gerard Roorda. They farmed south of Lynnville, and moved into Sully in 1979. In January 1981, Gerard moved to New Sharon Care Center, where he died March 14, 1981. Jeanette moved to Careage Care Center in Newton in December 1997. She attended the Lynnville Church of God as long as she was able.

She is survived by four children and spouses: Darlene and Seward Gates of Sully, Violet and Walton Van Maanen of Lynnville, Gary and Janice Roorda of Lynnville and Gorden and Sherry Roorda of Searsboro; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two grandchildren: Sally Jo Van Maanen and Brian Man Maanen; two great-grandchildren: Bethanie Van Kooten and Courtney Roorda; her parents; two sisters in infancy; two other sisters, Christina Meppelink and Katie Terlouw; and six brothers: John, Henry, Frank, Benjamin, Joe and Roy Terlouw.
