NEWTON — Adele M. Ham, 83, of Newton, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, in the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

No services or visitation are scheduled. Her body has been cremated. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arragements.

Memorials to the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center may be left at the funeral home or mailed to 510 E. 11th St. S. Newton, IA 50208.

The daughter of Urban and Pearl (Astgen) Bartels, she was born June 23, 1922, in Dubuque. She married Robert C. "Bob" Ham Sr. on Nov. 30, 1940, in Marshalltown. She was a lifelong resident of Newton and worked as a beautician and owned and operated Adele's Beauty Salon in Newton.

Survivors include three sons, Timothy W. "Tim" Ham (Pattie Garvin-Ham) of Fort Collins, Colo., Charles R. "Chuck" Ham of Rock Creek West in Kellogg, and Robert C. "Rob" (Susan) Ham of Newton; three daughters, Theresa A. Safris of Des Moines, Cecelia M. "Sake" Ham-DiGregorio (Vince DiGregorio) or Livermore, Colo., Justina M. "Tina" (Bill) Coady of Newton; 15 grandchildren and four great-granchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Pete Udelhoven; her husband; and her sister, Lorraine Russell.
