Della Ruth Constant, 56, of Newton died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Ken VanLoon of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Newton officiating. Burial will be at Winthrop Cemetery in Winthrop.

Following memorial services, lunch and a time of fellowship will be held in the Pence Tribute Center. Memorials will be accepted in her name.

The daughter of Dale Lee Constant and Bonnetta Lindly-Constant, she was born Oct. 17, 1948, in Chillicothe, Mo. She graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1967 and attended two years of night school. She worked for Communication Data Systems in Des Moines, Maytag Company and Progress Industries. She attended Immanuel Baptist Church in Newton.

Survivors include two sons, Patrick Allen Constant of Michigan and John Wayne (Kelly) Constant of Newton; eight grandchildren; her mother, Bonnetta Constant of Newton; and her maternal grandmother, Greta Lindly of Knoxville.

She was preceded in death by her father; a brother, Jerry Constant; and her step-mother, Katherine Ruth Slaughter-Constant.
