Colista Irene Hensley, 90, of Marshalltown, died March 13, 2003, at the Iowa Veterans Home from Alzheimer’s disease. Services will be 9 a.m. Monday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home on Lyon, with burial in Vandalia Cemetery.
Colista was born in Cambridge, and had lived in numerous places, primarily Des Moines, before moving to Marshalltown. She worked at Kmart before retiring. Colista enjoyed traveling, sewing, reading, gardening, cooking, and caring for her family.
Mrs. Hensley is survived by five daughters, Wilma Overton, Nancy Andresen, and Judy Hemingson, all of Des Moines, Barbara Williams of Las Vegas, NV, and Janet Clinton of Battle Ground, WA; two sisters, Dorothy Hynd of Ames, and Doris Ness of Huxley; a brother, Arnold (Bud) Leland of Cambridge, IA; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Fred J. Hensley; 2 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Iowa Veterans Home or Alzheimer’s Association Mid-Iowa Chapter.
