Duane Lester, 65, of Daytona, Fla., died of a heart ailment Wednesday at Halifax Hospital there. The body was cremated, and memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Lester was born in Colfax and had lived in Des Moines for more than 30 years before moving to Florida four years ago. He also had lived in Texas. He was the owner of Duane’s Painting, State Wide Painting and Les’ Used Cars. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, three sons, Mike of Missouri and Tom and Chris, both of Des Moines; a daughter, Kelly Lester of Des Moines; a stepson, Travis Schick, and two stepdaughters, Michelle Thomas and Tracy Sciacaitano, all of Daytona; his father, Tom Lester of Marshalltown; three brothers, Gary, Ivan and Keith all of Newton; six sisters, Lois Hines and Brenda Davis both of Des Moines, and Bonnie Geerlings, Rita Cooper, Becky Webster and Rosie Brammer, all of Newton; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Newlife Cremation and Funeral Chapel in Ormond Beach, Fla., is handling arrangements.
