Services for Helen M. Vander Werff, 82, who died Sunday, September 11, 2005 at the Iowa Methodist Hospital ER in Des Moines, will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 15 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Union Chapel Cemetery, north of Mingo.
Mrs. Vander Werff was born in Jasper County and had lived in Indianola since 1957 before recently moving to Des Moines. She was a homemaker, avid bowler and enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include her husband, Marion of Des Moines; daughter, Jane Vander Werff of Los Lunas, NM; brother, Lowell Jones of Akron, OH; sisters, Mary Minear of Windsor Heights, Verla Bosovich of West Des Moines, and Cleo Billingsley of Sun City West, AZ; granddaughter, Elizabeth Marie (Earl) McConnell; great-granddaughters, Anna Marie and Jordan Lenae; and great-grandson, Mikel. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Judith Flint and brother, Keith Jones.
Visitation will be 3 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 14 at the funeral home with family present to greet friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Chapel of Faith or the American Heart Association.
