Mrs. Robert R. (Creta) Owens Died Sept. 7th
Mrs. Robert R. (Creta) Owens Sr., 85, a lifelong resident of Jasper County died Friday evening at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. Edwin Frohardt, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, conducted the services. Burial was in Union Chapel Cemetery at Ira.
Survivors are four sons, Harold of Ashville, Pa., Roger and Robert, both of Newton, and Ralph of Mingo; a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Maxine) Zachary of Mingo; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Carrie DeReus of Valeria.
He was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1956, a grandson and a brother.
Mrs. Owens was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Owens had been a teacher in Jasper and Marshall Counties.
The daughter of William H. and Clara L. Mead Emery, she was born Sept. 21, 1887 in Colfax.
She was married Feb. 24, 1916 at Rhodes.
