Mrs. D. E. Woods Died Sunday at Newton Hospital
Funeral Services Held Tuesday Afternoon at Mingo; Formerly Lived at Colfax
Mrs. D. E. Woods, 79, died Sunday at the Skiff Memorial hospital in Newton where she had been a patient since Christmas day.
She was born July 18, 1866 at New Burlington, Ohio and died Dec. 29, 1946, aged 80 years, five months and 11 days.
For a number of years, Mrs. Woods and her late husband were residents of Colfax, living at the Grand hotel. It was while here she fell and broke a hip and had since been unable to be about as she would like.
The past two years she has been at a nursing home in Newton.
She was married to Daniel E. Woods, May 9, 1889, at New Burlington, Ohio, and to this union three daughters were born: Mrs. W. B. (Mary) Harper, College Springs, Ia., Mrs. D. I. (Ruth) Jacobson, Hamlin, New York and Mrs. Otha (Rhea) Hulse, Mingo who survive. Mr. Woods died March 3, 1945.
They came to Jasper county in 1937 from Clarinda, Iowa and have made their home in Colfax and Mingo. Mrs. Woods was a member of the Presbyterian church and the Three-Quarter Century Club.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Mingo Methodist church with the Rev. I. J. Wilkins officiating. Burial was in the Greencastle cemetery.

Mrs. Carrie Woods 80, Dies Sunday Rites at Mingo
Funeral services will be held from the Mingo Methodist church at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Carrie Hawkins Woods. The Rev. I. J. Wilkens will officiate. Burial will be made in Greencastle cemetery.
Mrs. Hawkins died at the Skiff Memorial hospital about 2:50, Sunday, having entered the hospital on Dec. 25. She was born July 18, 1866, at New Burlington, Ohio, and died Dec. 29, 1946, aged 80 years, five months and 11 days.
She was married to Daniel E. Woods, May 9, 1889, at New Burlington O., and to this union three daughters were born: Mrs. W. B. (Mary) Harper, College Springs, Ia.; Mrs. D. I. (Ruth) Jacobson, Hamlin, New York, and Mrs. Otha (Rhea) Hulse, Mingo, who survive. Mr. Woods died March 3, 1945.
They came to Jasper county in 1937 from Clarinda, Ia., and have made their home in Colfax and Mingo. She fell Oct. 11, 1943, fracturing a hip and has been an invalid since that time.
Mrs. Woods was a member of the Presbyterian church and the Daily News Three-Quarter Century club.
