Joseph A. “Jack” Tiffany, 73, of Maxwell, died of heart failure Thursday at the Luther Park Health Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Collins Christian Church, with the Revs. Michael Lopp and David Shaeffer officiating. Burial will be in the Ashton Cemetery in Mingo with full military rites.
Joseph Tiffany was born in Mingo to Joseph S. and Minnie (Kaldenberg) Tiffany. On Jan. 8, 1942, he married Myrtle Whitaker in Bethany, Mo. He worked in the fancy meats department at Iowa Packing company in Des Moines and in the maintenance department at the National Animal Disease Center in Ames. He retired in 1982. He also served in the U.S. Air Force. As a lifetime resident of the Collins and Maxwell area, he was a member of the Collins Christian Church, the American Legion, the V.F.W. and the Iowa Packing Company Retirees.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle of Maxwell; two sons, John R. Tiffany of Iowa City, and Joe Tiffany of Glendora, Calif.; a daughter, Jacqueline Peters of Des Moines; two brothers, John C. Tiffany of Collins, and George Tiffany of Britt; a sister, Johanna Hudson of Des Moines; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Visitation will be held today from 1 to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cooper Funeral Home in Maxwell.
Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association; Iowa Affiliate or the Collins Christian Church.
