Donna Sue Shea, 64, of Newton died on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Oakwood Care Facility in Albia. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Grace Church in Newton. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday and again after the service with a lunch at the church. Memorials in Donna’s name (checks made payable to Danny Shea) may be left at the church the day of the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Donna, the daughter of Wilson and Genevieve (Van Genderen) Dop, was born on December 15, 1957. She grew up in the Prairie City area and later moved to Newton. Donna graduated from Newton High School and then received her nursing degree from Marshalltown Community College. She later received her BA in nursing in Des Moines. Donna worked at both Iowa Methodist Medical Center and MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center as an ER trauma nurse and a cardiac nurse. She was a caregiver and loved to take care of others. On June 1, 2013, Donna was united in marriage with Danny Shea in Newton. Donna was currently attending Grace Church where she participated in bible study and enjoyed helping out the church community. She loved football and enjoyed cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Donna also was proud of the flowers she planted in her yard each year.

Donna is survived by her husband, Danny Shea of Newton; mother, Genevieve Dop of Newton; her siblings, Betty Dop of Newton, Doug (RuthAnn) Dop of Monroe, and Rodger (Lisa) Dop of Monroe; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Wilson Dop.
