Smool, Virgil 'Pete'
Virgil “Pete” Smool, 76, 1800 S. 4th Ave. E., died of complication of a stroke Thursday evening. March 21 at the Skiff Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Wallaoe-Pence Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friend. May call after 1 p.m. Saturday until time of services at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Dorothy; a son and daughter-in-law Gary and Janelle of Colfax; a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and JR Wilcox of Newton; six grandchildren and a sister, Alice Bayles of Newton.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, four brothers, Lyle, Glenn, Clifford and John. and two sisters Clara Snyder and Gladys Ergenbright

Mr. Smool owned and taxi service in Grinnell and was a custodian in the Newton Schools.

The son of John W. and Bertha J. Shaw Smool, he was born Jan.14, 1920 at Congersville, Ill.

He was married to Dorothy C. Halterman Dec. 21, 1945 in Newton.

He moved to Iowa at the age of 17, residing in Grinnell prior to moving to Newton
