The funeral of Mrs. Robert Tripp was conducted at Ashton Chapel Saturday, March 8, at 11 a.m. by Rev. Leroy Munyon assisted by Rev. A. B. Kern, both of Drake University. Six nephews were pallbearers. The floral offerings were beautiful. Interment was in the Ashton cemetery beside her husband and children.
Elizabeth Strickler was born in Fayette county, Pa., April 11, 1853. At twelve years of age she came to Johnson county, Iowa, with her parents and five years later to Jasper county locating near Clyde.
She was married to Robert A. Tripp in 1872, Mr. T. died February 27, 1908. Of the large family born of this union the three survivors were with her in her last illness; they are Mary and Andrew Tripp, and Mrs. Wm. Shepherd; she also leaves three grandchildren – John Tripp, Mary and Margaret Shepherd; two brothers and five sisters.
The family moved from Jasper county to southern Iowa thence to Nebraska where they lived a few years locating to Des Moines 16 years ago where they have since resided. Mrs. Tripp united with the Christian church in 1874, when Rev. Roach was pastor at Center school in Clear Creek township, and remained a consistent believer until called home after many weeks of suffering (with cancer) at her residence, 1415 4th street, Des Moines, March 6, 1913.
