Fred Esch, 85, Of Baxter Died July 4th
Fred Esch, 85, of Baxter, died Wednesday at the Colonial Manor in Baxter.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter.
The Rev. T. A. Thompson, pastor of the church conducted the services. Burial was in Union Chapel Cemetery near Mingo.
Boyd-Nickel Funeral Home in Baxter handled the arrangements.
Survivors are his daughter, Mrs. James M. (Lucille) Smith of Mingo; a granddaughter, Mrs. Nancy Lea Fairchild of Alexandria, Va.; and a brother, Carl of Eagle Point, Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1969, parents, a brother and a son in infancy.
Mr. Esch was a member of the Ira Christian Church, the Ira Grange and the Farm Bureau.
He retired from farming in 1965.
The son of John and Barbara Esch, he was born March 30, 1888 in Jasper County and attended Jasper County schools.
He was married to Coral Signs March 19, 1913 at her home near Mingo.
Organist was Mrs. Donald Akins.
Flowers – Mrs. Robert Matthews and Mrs. John Weston.
Bearers – Robert Matthews, John Weston, Leonard Deeter, Gail Rippey, Arnold Miller and Max Butler.
