Hobbs, Floyd Foster – 1903-1959

Floyd Foster, son of James and Nellie Hobbs was born March 14, 1903 at Scranton, Iowa. He grew to manhood and received his education in Greene and Webster counties.
He was united in marriage to Mildred Mack of Somers, Iowa on January 3, 1923 at Somers. To this union one daughter was born, Mavis, Mrs. Harold Geisler of Mingo.
Floyd had been in telephone work nearly all of his adult life except for a few years spent on a farm. He has been manager of the Butler Bremer Telephone Co. for the past 16 years, a position he still held at the time of his death. He was proud to wear the pin of 25 or more years of service in this work.
He was a member of the Baptist church of Plainfield, a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Nashua, having held the highest office of past Noble Grand. He was also a delegate to Grand Lodge.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Mildred who is a surgical patient at Allen memorial hospital in Waterloo, and his daughter Mavis.
He and his daughter were on the way home from the hospital on Thursday evening when he was stricken with a heart attack and passed away at the age of 56 years and 12 days.
He leaves 3 sisters and 1 brother, Mrs. Ray Temple of Rippey, Iowa, Mrs. Dwight Fouch of Rippey, Mrs. John Groves of Guthrie Center, Ia., and C. J. Hobbs of Ralston, Nebr. Several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. He was a good neighbor and friend to all who knew him.
