Cornie Slycord, Former Garage Operator, Dies
Galesburg – Cornie Slycord, 73, former operator of Slycord’s Garage in Galesburg for approximately 40 years, died Monday at the Pella Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Pella Garden Chapel. Burial will be in the Hewitt Cemetery.
Survivor are his wife, the former Margaret Awtry; two sons, Robert Dean of Fort Myers, Fla., and Norman of Newton; a daughter, Mrs. Jim (Mary) Brigg of Galesburg; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Carrie Murphy of Long Beach, Calif., and a brother, Jim of Pella.
He was preceded in death by a son, Verlin.
He was born Feb. 14, 1903 in Jasper County.
