Cora Dye, 77, Dies Tuesday; Services Friday
Laurel – Mrs. Charles (Cora) Dye, 77, a resident of Laurel since 1955 and longtime Laurel area resident, died Tuesday at the University Hospitals in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Zion United Methodist Church in Laurel.
The Rev. Donald Cutler, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Laurel.
Friends may call at the Estel-Perin Funeral Home in Marshalltown until 9 a.m. Friday.
Survivors are her husband; a son, Russell of Marshalltown; a daughter, Mrs. Lewis (Lucille) Phillips of Marshalltown; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Jess Blackwell, Mrs. Virgil Ballard, Mrs. John Bartine and Mrs. Ruby Whalen, all of Marshalltown; and two brothers, Lawrence Achtemeier and Walter Achtemeier, both of Marshalltown.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, and three sisters.
Mrs. Dye was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church, Women’s Society of Christian Service of the church, American Legion Auxiliary, Senior Citizens and Garden Club, all of Laurel.
The daughter of Charles and Reba Osten Achtemeier, she was born Dec. 12, 1898 near Laurel.
She was married Mar. 12, 1919 at Marshalltown.
