Emma L. Sherman Dies Wednesday; Rites Saturday.
Mrs. Raymond (Emma L.) Sherman, 80, of 400 S. 5th Ave. W., a resident of Newton since 1966 and former resident of the Sully community, died Wednesday evening at the Jasper County Care Facility.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. Marvin Potter, pastor of the Newton United Presbyterian Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Sully Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home after 1 p.m. Friday.
Survivors are a daughter Mrs. Roscoe (Lucile) Dick of Newton; two granddaughters, Mrs. James (Ranae) Fagan of Gladbrook and Mr. Elaine Etter of Newton; and three great-grandchildren, Ryan and Kevin Fagen, both of Gladbrook, and Amy Etter of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her parent; husband Raymond in November, 1970, a sister and two brothers.
Mrs. Sherman, a retired Galesburg and Sully rural school teacher, was a member of the Sully Community Church.
The daughter of John and Nell Price Smith, she was born Sept. 12, 1895 in Galesburg and was a 1914 graduate of Newton Community High School.
She was married to Raymond Sherman Mar. 7, 1917 at Newton.
