Alice Carnahan, Former Newton Resident, Dies
Mrs. Maxwell (Alice) Carnahan, 75, of Knoxville, a resident of Newton for 10 years, died Thursday evening at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital in Chariton.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. Richard Bentzinger, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Hewitt Cemetery at Galesburg.
Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Saturday
Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Clark and Thelma Carnahan of Knoxville, where Mrs. Carnahan has resided since 1972; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Marion Schippers of Ottumwa, and Louie and Lester Schippers, both of Oskaloosa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and three brothers.
The daughter of John and Anna Burggraaf Schippers, she was born Aug. 11, 1900 in Marion County.
