Mary Brubaker Dies Tuesday; Rites Thursday
Prairie City – Mrs. Earl M. (Mary Susan) Brubaker, 87, a resident of the Prairie City community since 1908, died Tuesday at the Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Church of the Brethren, south of Prairie City.
The Rev. William Miller, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Waveland Cemetery at Prairie City.
Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City is handling arrangements.
Survivors are her husband; six sons, Price of Prairie City, Carl of Ventura, Calif., Merline of Bettendorf, Lee of Prairie City, Doyle of Newton and Marvin of Des Moines; a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Opal) Goodrich of Madrid; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Ben Buckingham and Irvin Buckingham, both of Prairie City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three children, Anna Everett and LaVerne; and two sisters.
The daughter of William and Catherine Nickey Buckingham, she was born Mar. 13, 1889 in La Place, Ill., and attended Mount Morris, Ill., schools.
She was married Sept. 27, 1910 at Prairie City.
