David Donaldson Dies Friday; Service Today
Mingo – Funeral services for David Donaldson, 93, of Mingo, a longtime Baxter and Colfax area farmer, were held today at the Boyd-Nickell Funeral Home in Baxter.
The Rev. Robert Hinshaw, pastor of the Ashton Chapel, north of Mingo, conducted services. Burial was in the Restland Cemetery in Baxter.
A memorial in Mr. Donaldson’s name has been established. Memorials may be left at the Boyd-Nickell Funeral Home.
Mr. Donaldson died Friday evening at the Colonial Manor at Baxter.
Survivors are his son; Clifford of Colfax; two daughters, Mrs. Perry (Frances) Miller of Mingo and Mrs. Walter (Gladys) Nichol of Knoxville; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Donaldson was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jennie, in 1944, a son, a grandson, a grandson, a granddaughter, two brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Donaldson, who retired from farming in 1946, worked for a number of years for a railroad company in Des Moines.
The son of David and Mary Galloway Donaldson, he was born Aug. 29, 1882 at Stralhmingo, Scotland.
He was married to Jennie Phey in Marshall County.
