G. Van De Voort, Former Galesburg Resident, Dies
Galesburg – Gerrit Van De Voort, 77, of 400 Franklin St., in Pella, a former resident of the Galesburg community died Saturday morning at the Pella Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Third Reformed Church in Pella.
The Rev. Kenneth A. Dykstra will conduct services. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.
Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella is handling arrangements.
Survivors are his wife, Cornelia; two sons, Everett of Plainfield, Ill., and Henry J. of Oskaloosa; two daughters, Mrs. Earl (Jennie) Van Zante of Pella and Mrs. Frank (Greta) Westra of Harvey; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and five brothers and sisters, including Mrs. Arie (Bertha) Van Norden of Sully, Everett Van De Voort of Killduff and William E. Van De Voort of Otley.
Mr. Van De Voort, a woodworker, had been employed in a number of businesses.
The son of Everett and Christina Van Vorland Van De Voort, he was born May 6, 1899 in The Netherlands.
He was married June 19, 1920.
