Donald Aalbers, A Co-Owner of Colfax Firm Dies; Rites Friday
Altoona-Bondurant – Donald Aalbers, 47, of 306 Village Circle, Altoona, a former resident of Bondurant for 18 years and co-owner of the Colfax Livestock Sales Co., was dead on arrival Tuesday at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Bethany Reformed Church at 720 Northeast 52nd in Des Moines.
The Rev, Lloyd Menning, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.
Memorial contributions to the Bethany Reformed Church in Des Moines will be accepted.
Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax is handling arrangements.
Survivors are his wife, Laverna; two daughters, Connie Jo of Altoona and Vicky Sue of Altoona; and a brother, Robert of Runnells.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Aalbers was a member of the Bethany Reformed Church in Des Moines, where he served as an elder, the Altoona Chamber of Commerce, Bondurant American Legion, Bondurant Lions club and the Colfax Kiwanis Club.
He was a veteran of the Korean conflict.
The son of William and Grace Koopman Aalbers, he was born Feb. 9, 1928 at Otley.
He was married to Laverna Rouwenhorst Nov. 22, 1950 at Prairie City.
