‘Bill’ Hughes Dies Tuesday; Rites Thursday
Colfax – David William “Bill” Hughes, 87 a longtime resident of Colfax, died Tuesday at the Jasper County Care Facility, southeast of Newton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.
The Rev. Robert Jones, pastor of the Colfax Christian Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the McKeever Cemetery.
Survivors are three brothers, John and Daniel, both of Newton and Henry of Spirit Lake; and two sisters, Margaret Johnson of California and Agnes McNeer of Colfax.
Mr. Hughes, a member of the Christian Church in Colfax, was a World War I veteran and had been a miner and carpenter.
The son of David and Emma Steinberger Hughes, he was born Feb. 29, 1899
