February 09, 1943 - June 02, 2022Dorothy Mae Findlow, age 79 of Monroe, passed away on June 02, 2022 at MercyOne in Des Moines. A celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022 beginning at noon at the Prairie City Church of the Brethren, where a lunch will be provided. Memorials may be directed to the Monroe Fire and Rescue or the Monroe Food Pantry. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com
The daughter of Joe and Alta (Van Dusseldorp) Van Wyk, Dorothy was born on February 09, 1943 in Monroe. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1961. On November 22, 1963, she was united in marriage to Jerry Findlow at the Christian Reformed Church in Prairie City. Dorothy loved to go to Farmers Markets and her flowers, but her greatest enjoyment came with the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Jerry; children, Terry (Marcie) Findlow, Tami (Trevor Rus) Little and Tracey Findlow; eight grandchildren, TJ (Emilee Keyes) Findlow, Zach (Lisa Etcher) Findlow, Emma (Max) Shannon, Ty Little, Trent (Julianne Johnson) Little, Skylar Rus, Courtney (Austin) Shives and Devin Burk and eight great grandchildren, Liam, Aubrie, Harper, Bailee, Stella, Brexton, Teagan and Greyson. She is also survived by her siblings; Harlan (Sandy) Van Wyk, Helen Nolin, Donna (Lloyd) Steenhoek, Delmar (Diana) Van Wyk, Lois Telfer, and Leona (Wade) Charls; two sisters-in-law, Marge Van Wyk and Joyce Van Wyk and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, her twin sister, Doris De Haai; two brothers, Howard and Harold Van Wyk and a brother-in-law, Darrell Nolin.
